Robots, kids, Bucky the Beaver and a Windows pipe screen-saver

The Vex Robotics Competition was Saturday. You can read my words on it later at the Pioneer’s website. But for now, here’s a few shots of the action.

In between rounds, where robots compete to place bean bags in plastic troughs, contestants have to repair any damage or adjust their machines. They have four minutes to do so before having their machine inspected ahead of the next round.

After the inspection, the teams must wait for the round ahead of theirs before placing their robots in the “cage.” If their robot is not functional, usually because they weren’t able to make repairs in time, it must remain in the cage until the match is over.

It must be very frustrating to have to sit and watch the competition take place without being able to take part.

The event was held at the John S. Glas Fieldhouse, so of course Bucky the Beaver had to make an appearance.

As did whoever that guy in the background is.
